Frequently Asked Questions
Are we required to bring a certain number of sponsors? Is there sponsor housing?
Groups are not required to bring sponsors. Our sponsor housing is somewhat limited but we do have one cottage for female sponsors and one cottage for male sponsors. At this time, couples will have to split up. We know this is not ideal, and we have plans to improve this situation by building more sponsor housing as soon as the Lord provides the funds to do so.

What is the weather like?
During our summer camping season, highs are in the mid-70s with lows in the mid-50s. Be sure to bring a jacket, but also make sure to bring plenty of clothes for warmer weather. We could experience spring rains, so it would be a good idea to pack a raincoat, umbrella, and a couple extra sets of clothes.
What is the deadline for registrations?
There is no set date when you need to get your registrations in. We accept registrations until the day camp begins. However, certain weeks of camp often fill months in advance. It is best to get your registrations in as early as possible in order to ensure that you will have a spot in the week you want to attend camp. |
How can we volunteer at THE WILDS of New England?
We welcome volunteer groups during the fall and spring. For more information please contact us. |
How do I apply to work on summer staff?
Our Board of Directors has set a policy that a potential staff member must have completed a year of college or our CIT (Camper-In-Training) Leadership Program, which is offered in the summer at THE WILDS of North Carolina.
If you meet these qualifications, please fill out an application and mail it to:
TWNE Secretary 1000 Wilds Ridge Road Brevard, NC 28712

How do you deal with food allergies?
Our kitchen staff and camp nurse work with campers with food allergies and intolerances to make sure they are provided for. We ask that campers with special dietary needs bring their own microwaveable food. If your child has a food allergy, you will receive a call from the camp nurse and/or the camp dietician a week or two before camp. She will help you figure out which meals your child will be able to eat, and which you will need to send substitute food for. |
Do you offer camps other than summer camps?
While summer camps are our main focus right now, we do plan to expand the numbers and types of fall and spring camps as the Lord provides funds for the facilities needed to accommodate a larger variety of camps. Please contact us for a complete listing of camps offered. |
What should my child bring to camp?
Bible, bedding, pillow, towels, toiletries, camera, flashlight, swimsuit, jacket, sports clothes for activities, at least one old pair of tennis shoes, nice casual clothes for informal services (girls: bring skirts for the evening services. guys: bring collared shirts for the evening services), and spending money (for a team shirt, the bookstore, coffee shop, camp memory DVD, etc).
How much spending money will my child need?
Although this varies with families, if the camper wants to purchase a team shirt ($10), something in the snack shop or coffee shop each day ($12), team or cabin pictures ($7), a Camp Picture DVD ($8), a Bible study program to take home ($5), and items in the book store or craft shop ($5), he will spend $47. Obviously, camper purchases vary with every camper but hopefully this gives a little idea of what is available.
What time is check-in?
For summer camp, check-in is from 2:30-4:30 on Monday afternoon. The check-in times for our fall retreats vary from camp to camp, but the times are listed in our brochure.
What time should I plan to pick my child up?
Pick-up time for summer camp is 8:00 AM on Saturday.
Do you offer a shuttle service from the airport?

Can my church/school rent your facilities?
